10th January 2011

It has been a very long time between takes!

Slowly but surely Centre Place is being screened around the world. It has been one crazy ride. Our talented director, Ben Shackleford found himself soaking up the atmosphere at the Skip City International D-Cinema Film Festival in Tokyo mid last year. It was an exciting time for us, finally reaching our first festival. ‘Centre Place’ had a great audience reaction.

Last November we were lucky enough to be invited to the New York City Downtown Film Festival, a small new film festival in the Village of New York. We had the pleasure of being the opening film as well! This was an amazing experience to meet with down to earth people with such an appreciation for film. We even scored an Honorable Mention.

We are very proud of Centre Place so far. Making a feature film is a very long and arduous road. We have grown as film makers and Centre Place has just gotten better and better.

So, let’s see what 2011 has in store.

10th February 2009

Bang! That’s a wrap!

After five weeks of heat waves, 5am wrap times and a lot of work the filming of ‘Centre Place’ is finished!

Yep, that’s right the film is in the can, or in our case Hard Drive…

One thing is for sure that when our director said “Let’s set it in Winter” we didn’t think mother nature would be so against us.

A winter film in Melbourne’s hottest week EVER! Great.

Respect to the crew for pushing on through it and delivering absolute beauty.

We can definitely be proud of what has been achieved, the locations were stunning, the costumes perfect, and the vision is exactly what we hoped for.

Now, we are on to the next phase. Editing, festivals and promotion.

The fun just never stops making a film!

5th January 2009

First day/night of filming has been and gone. What a day it was. We filmed our first scenes in Centre Place today. A beautiful little laneway in Melbourne city, that was the inspiration for our film. Hence the title, ‘Centre Place’.

With plenty of gawking onlookers and a crane over Flinder’s Lane we got straight in to filming.

Our actors were brilliant, Julia looked gorgeous all dressed up as the eclectic and colourful Lizzie. With her shiny red bike and purple gloves Lizzie came alive surrounded by the intricate awnings and signage of ‘Centre Place’.

Much appreciation must go out to the residents of this area who dealt with our huge lights and massive trucks taking over their premises!

It was such an exhilarating experience to see everything set up on location. It means this film is actually happening. After two years of concepts and scripts and plenty of set backs, we are in production!

24th December 2008

What more could you want from a romantic comedy than laughter, love and the perfect wardrobe!

Well this is exactly what pre production on ‘Centre Place’ has been.

First came the arrivals of producer Charelle and DOP Stuart from their overseas locations. Then it was straight into the casting of our amazing actors and finding a fantastic crew to work with.

December has brought a lot of highs and a lot of stress, which slowly dissolves at the site of the official ‘Centre Place’ lolly jar and official ‘Centre Place’ Hannah Montana Christmas Countdown Calendar. Hey, there’s a lot to organise for a five-week shoot!

Last week saw all our cast together for the first time at rehearsals and the characters really came alive. Julia Markowski really found her inner Lizzie and Jay Bowen made Cameron his own rock star. There is no other for the role of Jo, Lizzie’s boss and fashion bitch but Alison Whyte, who gives so much comic appeal to the role. And of course, the leading man, Sullivan Stapleton with a grin and eyes to steal any heart.

And lets not forget the clothes! Colourful handfuls of tights and legwarmers flying around the room, cute outfit after cute outfit made us all jealous of Lizzie’s eclectic wardrobe.

Got to love a wardrobe fitted out by Dot and Herbey, Blacklisted, Urban Identity, Design A Space and Gisele’s! I’ll take that thank you!

The countdown to filming has begun. Bring on 5th January!
